Clos Rougeard “Le Bourg” – Saumur Champigny 2015
Clos Rougeard has always been a separate estate in the Saumur-Champigny appellation. When most of the winegrowers took the side of high yield viticulture, wines that were not always qualitatively flawless, the Foucault brothers, Charly and Nady, like their ancestors before them, signed different wines, on freshness and velvety. “Haute couture” viticulture, low yields, long aging in barrels, vinification using indigenous yeasts have made it possible to produce on this 10 hectare estate, terroir wines considered to be the most representative of the appellation with potential for wine. important guard (15 to 25 years).
Very nice oak, a little vanilla, smoky and noble spices. Slightly menthol. Sanguine, floral notes, peony, a little violet. Fleshy and precise on the palate, very beautiful structuring tannins and a woody and elegant finish. Needs time, a lot of time.
