Château l’Église-Clinet 2002
Eglise Clinet is one of the micro-properties scattered through the appellation. Little known, it produces one of Pomerol’s best wines. Herbaceous, still well defined, with touches of smoke and bay leaf. This is aromatically rather ‘bolshie’ at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent entry, the Merlot dominating at the moment, very pure with red cherries, wild strawberry, creme de cassis and a faint touch of peppermint towards the finish. I think the nose will open with time. Grape variety: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet franc
