8 Whisky Bottles Luxury Box – 2020 Special Releases “Rare by Nature”
Cragganmore 20 Year Old: A Cragganmore of this age has never left the distillery, giving this elusive malt a much anticipated character. Woody, sweet and mellow notes emerge from this small batch, patiently aged for over 20 years in second fill barrels. 11 Year Old Cardhu: This Cardhu was made in small batches and aged in second fill barrels, as well as new and ex-bourbon American oak barrels, offering notes of floral sweetness and spicy intensity in a playful exchange between wood and whiskey. Lively and fresh, elegant and perfectly balanced, this Cardhu would be a perfect accompaniment to an al fresco lunch. Lagavulin 12 Year Old: This Lagavulin is aged in traditional American oak second fill selected to give a perfect expression of the character of the distillery. Soaring in taste and intensity, the flavor is powerful and assertive but subtly sweet. Pittyvaich 30 years old: This small batch of Pittyvaich 1989 is a first for the distillery which used old bourbon barrels to bring an exotic depth and a richness of vanilla with the light, creamy and fruity aromas characteristic of the distillery . Talisker 8 Year Old: Made from a malt with a maritime character, this daring version of Talisker is the very first to be aged in old Caribbean rum casks. These barrels combine the sea scents, characteristic of this Skye distillery, with the sweetness and exoticism of warmer climates. Dalwhinnie 30 Years Old: This small batch of Dalwhinnie enjoys a layering of intense flavors, developed through over thirty years of maturation in second fill casks of various sizes, which have taken the character of the distillery to the top of the perfection. Marked by aromas of the moors, the flavors are delicately sweet and surprisingly peppery. Born in the heart of Scotland’s highest distillery, among the coldest regions, Dalwhinnie is mountain malt. It has developed its peculiarity by confronting the harsh climate of arid and often desolate landscapes, just like the mountain hares which abound in the surrounding hills. Mortlach 1999 21 years old: Great sweetness to begin with (syrup and scorched caramel), ample, rich and sweet. Notes of orchard fruit, vanilla and caramel develop. The richness notes are heavier than the nose suggests. A hit of ginger spice leads to a bunch of juicy raisins, with ginger cake, rum cake, and pineapple cake upside down below. Baked apples and poached pears appear, with hints of meaty alcohol, spices and forest ponds growing alongside. Singleton of Dufftown 2002 Age 17: Zigzagged nose and zagged mouth, with added weight and complexity showing on the tongue. Nice, rich background for a 100% American oak whiskey, with the whiskey showing lots of chocolate – the darker side of the oak’s usual cream and vanilla character.
